DEL Essentials 2025

What a phenomenal three days at the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) at 92nd Street Y, teaching the DEL Essentials course alongside my incredible mentor and DEL Founder, Jody Arnhold! It was a true honor to co-lead this foundational experience for over 60 passionate dance educators, artists, and emerging leaders.

We were especially thrilled to welcome 36 dynamic college students from across the country as part of the prestigious Arnhold Summer Fellows scholarship program. Their energy, creativity, and curiosity filled the space with vibrant possibility.

Throughout the course, we explored DEL’s core principles of artistry, collaboration, and reflective practice. Participants engaged in joyful movement investigations—from whimsical sea creature dances inspired by creative imagery, to powerful interpretations of Life Doesn’t Frighten Me by Maya Angelou.

These three days were a beautiful reminder of the transformative power of dance education. To witness so many voices uplifted, empowered, and connected through movement was truly a blessing.
