I had the incredible opportunity to serve as the lead presenter and DEL Ambassador at Education in Motion (EIM), a week-long professional learning intensive focused on integrated arts education at Colorado State University. This dynamic program brought together passionate educators from across the country to explore creative, embodied approaches to teaching and learning through the arts.
Over the course of the week, I led several interactive and inquiry-based workshops, including:
Introduction to the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) Model — An overview of the DEL approach to dance education, emphasizing experiential learning, collaborative pedagogy, and reflective practice.
Words That Move Us! — A creative dance-making session inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Mountaintop speech, where participants used text as a springboard for personal and collective movement expression.
Movement Sentence Choir — A powerful choreographic experience centered around the theme Building Resilience in Times of Uncertainty, in which participants generated movement phrases and layered them together to create a shared embodiment of resilience.
Throughout the week, the atmosphere was one of curiosity, collaboration, and joy. It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication of the educators in the room as they engaged in deep reflection, creative risk-taking, and community building through dance.
A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Morgan and Jessica Loveall, the visionary directors of EIM, for cultivating such a rich and meaningful professional development experience. I am deeply honored to have contributed to this impactful gathering of arts educators.
